- 2.5% in France
- 1% in the United Kingdom (IE previously had a 60% market share compared to 26% for Firefox)
- 1.3% in Italy
Since the introduction of the ‘choice screen’ downloads of Mozilla Firefox and Opera web browsers have increased significantly, with Opera reportedly seeing downloads more than double since the change. In Europe as a whole Internet Explorer had a 46% market share with Firefox at 39%, Opera at 6%, Chrome at 4% and Safari at 3%.
Success in the Web Browser and Search Engine markets are seen as crucially important to the long term success of Microsoft as in the future operating systems and there associated applications are expected to migrate to the browser.
