REC members discuss AWR Implementation

The Head of Randstad UK, Brian Wilkinson, said that \”It is a concern that such a high proportion of organisations are so unprepared. We urge all users of agency workers to conduct a thorough assessment of their human capital resources and the impact of the Regulations. Doing this properly will enable organisations to optimise the structure and efficiency of their workforces. The equalisation of basic working and employment conditions for agency workers will encourage more people that don\’t want permanent work to enter the labour market. That is good for them and it\’s good for UK employers.\”

Speaking further to the REC’s meeting in Scotland, Gillian Econopouly, the REC’s Head of Public Policy, said that \”This roundtable session was an important opportunity for recruiters in Scotland to put their heads together on what will undoubtedly be a challenging new set of regulations. We will work hard to ensure all REC members in Scotland have access to regular updates and practical support, especially when it comes to explaining AWR to their clients.” Lisa Boutineau, REC Director in Scotland, went on to say that \”Building links across the industry and developing a strong voice in Scotland has never been more important, with AWR on the horizon and Scottish Parliamentary elections in May. The views and concerns of members are critical for shaping the REC\’s agenda here, and we must leverage this expertise in creating strong links with the next Scottish Executive and elected MSPs, as well as our representatives in the UK parliament.\”
