Cloud Computing a hit in the UK

The survey found that 25% of UK organisations as a whole and 20% of smaller UK firms are implementing cloud computing systems even though they are not confident that the reward will be worth the risk.

The Strategy Chairman at the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), Paul Williams said that “Every day we take calculated risks. Organisations need an integrated risk management approach to identify, assess and prioritise risks, so that they only take appropriate gambles with acceptable consequences or level of reward. Enterprises must never crash and burn because the risk was ignored or misjudged.\”

UK Businesses are being advised to fully analyse the impact that cloud technologies will have on their business before proceeding with implementation. Cloud Computing technologies do not represent a magic wand that will solve an organisations internal data processing issues. Just like any other IT implementation Cloud Technologies must be fully assessed, correctly implemented and staff must be suitably trained if success is to be achieved.
