Writing a High Impact CV

To secure a Contract you need to make your skills stand out from your rivals. To do this you need to write a CV which stands you out from the crowd. To do this you should:

  • Write a 2-3 page high impact CV. Make sure you include:
    • Basic Contact Details (Name, Email Address, Telephone Number)
    • A job title which matches the one detailed on the Contract advertisement
    • A Profile section which includes 10 key bullet points
    • A Technical Skills section which highlights in bold the key skills required for the Contract
    • An Achievements section which contains another 10 key bullet points
  • Rewrite & target your CV to the specific Contract being offered to improve impact
  • Write a Contract specific email when submitting your CV – Make sure your CV does not look like a spam email
  • Write different CVs for different Contracts in order to expand your appeal (e.g. you may paint the picture on one CV that you are a great ‘Java Developer’ and on another you may focus on being a ‘Project Manager’

When an Agent first opens your CV he or she will make an initial decision on whether they want to read more in 10 – 20 seconds. If they do not see all of the information they require on the first half page they will discard the CV and move on to the next one.
