Skills Shortage List

The Skill Shortage List details highly skilled occupations whose practitioners are in particularly short supply in the European Economic Areas (EEA). If you are an employer you may recruit a suitably qualified non EEA worker to undertake a shortage occupation without the need to advertise the position (as is required for Tier 2 Work Permit applications).

Information Technology jobs are no longer considered skill shortage occupations. If you wish to employ someone in an IT role you will need to undertake a Tier 2 work permit application only once you have conducted a suitable EEA wide recruitment search.
