Qualifying under Tier 2
In order to qualify for a Tier 2 visa (formerly UK Work Permit) you must score at least 50 points Attributes & satisfy the English Language & Maintenance Requirements.Please note that Tier 2 of the Points Based System (PBS) consists of four subcategories; General, Intra Company Transfer, Sports People & Ministers of Religion. This guide is concerned with Tier 2 General only (formerly Business & Commercial Work Permit).

In order to qualify against the Tier 2 (Work Permit) criteria you need to score 50 points for attributes and satisfy the English Language & Maintenance Requirements.Tier 2 General Attributes (50 Points Required)
The Tier 2 Attributes requirement is made up of 3 Categories; Sponsorship, Qualifications & Prospective Earnings. Points are awarded for one statement in each category.

** Awards for ‘Sponsorship’ are dependent upon the Tier 2 Sponsors Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS). It is not possible to apply for a Tier 2 visa without a valid CoS

Tier 2 English Language Requirement (10 Points Required)
Applicants under Tier 2 must be able to speak English to an appropriate level. Their are 3 ways to satisfy the English Language requirement as detailed below. If you are unable to satisfy the requirement you will not be able to apply for a Tier 2 General Visa.

Tier 2 Maintenance Requirement (10 Points Required)
Their are 2 ways to satisfy the Tier 2 Maintenance Requirement:
- themselves and their dependents until their first pay check. In order to do this you must show that you have at least £800 in your bank account for the 90 days immediately prior to the application. If funds drop below £800 for even 1 day the application will fail
- The Tier 2 Sponsor Certifies the applicant’s maintenance. To certify Maintenance the sponsor must be a Tier 2 ‘A Rated’ Sponsor (B rated sponsors cannot certify maintenance). The employer must provide a letter confirming that it will cover the maintenance requirement and detail the applicants name and CoS number etc

All workers employed by these consultancies are highly skilled individuals on minimum salaries of at least £30,000 per annum.Qualifying under Tier 2 as an employee of these consultancies is relatively straightforward as applicants score 60 points immediately for Attributes (30 points for CoS, 20 points for Prospective Earnings above £24,000pa) & Maintenance (Employer often certifies the Maintenance Requirement, 10 points). The only area of concern involves the English Language Requirement, however all prospective consultants speak perfect English.
