Dependents of Work Permit Holders
Work Permit holders can invite their dependents to join them in the UK for the duration of their leave to remain, provided they can financially support and accommodate them without requiring access to public funds. Dependents are considered to be husbands, wives, civil partners and children under the age of 18.
If you’re a freelance contractor on a dependent status you can work freely and use either an umbrella company or limited company structure while in the UK. Work Restrictions
No restrictions are placed on the working arrangements of work permit dependents unless they have been granted leave to remain of less than 6 months. Where this occurs the dependent would not normally be allowed to take any form of employment in the UK.
Healthcare and Education
Dependents of work permit holders are also entitled to UK Healthcare and Education services. Entitlement to the National Health Service (NHS) depends once again upon the duration Leave to Remain (LTR) granted. Work Permit holders and their dependents granted less than 6 months Leave to Remain are not normally covered by the National Health Service and are advised to take out private medical insurance. Children (under the age of 18) are entitled to the same free education afforded a resident UK national.
