South African Doctors
South African Doctors South African Doctors are more highly in demand in the UK than Doctors from any other nation outside the British Isles. This is due to vast professional experience, exceptional skills, perfect English Language & a similar Healthcare system to the UK. Within the Public Sector many NHS Trusts shy away from sponsoring South African Doctors due to Political pressures however the Private Sector has no such restrictions.

If you’re a Consultant Level Doctor and you would like to work in the UK Commonwealth Contractors can help. We partner with Tier 2 Licensed Healthcare Consultancies who are prepared to sponsor Doctors on 3 year ‘Multiple Entry’ Tier 2 Visas where required.

» Consultant Level Doctors:

We understand that most South African Consultant Level Doctors prefer to undertake one or two short term assignments (3 - 4 months) in the UK each year and then return home to family & a local medical practise. If this describes your situation our Tier 2 Consultancy Partners will be happy to sponsor a ‘Multiple Entry’ Tier 2 Visa rather than a ‘Standard Entry’ visa.

Traditional NHS Trust Sponsorship Consultancy Sponsorship
An NHS Trust sponsors a Consultant Level Doctor on a short term (e.g. 3 Month) Tier 2 Work Permit. The Doctor incurs time & significant expense gaining a short term visa approval in Pretoria (a trip must be made to the visa office to provide Biometrics (fingerprints etc)). Once the project has been completed the Tier 2 Work Permit expires and the Doctor must go through the whole process all over again the next year if they wish to return. A Consultancy Sponsors a Doctor on a 3 year ‘Multiple Entry’ Tier 2 Visa. The Doctor pays one Government visa application fee, travels once to submit Biometric Information & waits once for an approval. The Doctor travels to the UK, undertakes a 3 month assignment on site at an NHS Trust & then returns home. The following year if he or she wishes to return a flight is booked and work commences, the visa has already been approved.
» Non Consultant Level Doctors:

If you’re a South African Doctor but you are not practising at Consultant Level our Tier 2 Licensed Consultancy Partners will still be interested in sponsoring you on a Tier 2 Visa.

All non Shortage Occupation jobs must be advertised to resident nationals however due to significant shortages across the board very few (if any) responses come forward, therefore Non EEA Nationals are required.
