Tier 1 Visa Applications
If you have a Masters Degree or better you may be able to qualify for a Tier 1 Visa. If you do not have a Masters Qualification please see ‘Tier 2 Visa Applications’ below.
To qualify against Tier 1 General you must score 75 points from four points scoring categories (Qualifications, Previous Earnings, Age and UK Experience) & satisfy the English Language & Maintenance Requirements.
Applicants from Pakistan face a number of challenges when applying for a Tier 1 General Visa:
- Maintenance Requirement: To qualify against the Maintenance Requirement you must have at least £2,800 in your bank account for the 90 days immediately prior to the application. No currency conversion ratios apply to the Maintenance Requirement therefore you need roughly 400,000 Pakistani Rupees to qualify. Please note that you will need more if you are bringing your dependents
- English Language Requirement:Pakistan is not an English speaking country therefore you either need:
- A Degree taught entirely in English, that can be verified by UK NARIC, OR
- An English Language Test Certificate (e.g. IELTS)
- Visa Processing Times: It can take a long time to secure a Tier 1 visa if you come from Pakistan. Not only will you have to wait 90 days (if you do not have at least 400,000 Pakistani Rupees (rough conversion) in you account for the 90 days immediately prior to application) but once submitted the application will take between 1 – 6 months to gain an approval. Many applications are processed within 3 months however any issues can cause long delays.
Tier 2 Visa Applications
If you are sponsored by one of our ‘A Rated’ Tier 2 Consultancy or Trust Partners all you need to worry about is qualifying against the English Language Requirement. In the majority of case prospective employees score 60 out of a required 70 points for:
- A Certificate of Sponsorship: Either 30 or 50 points are awarded depending upon whether the prospective employee is to work in a Skill Shortage Occupation
- Prospective Earnings: All employees earn significantly more that £24,000 therefore 20 points are awarded. Please note that you would not normally attempt to score points for Prospective Earnings if you work in a Skill Shortage Role
- Maintenance Requirement: Our Tier 2 Partners only employ individuals on highly skilled wages. Therefore in many cases they happy to validate Maintenance due to the fact that well paid employees are highly unlikely to require access to public funds.
All that is required therefore is for an applicant to qualify against the English Language Requirement. To do this an applicant must either have:
- A Degree that was taught in English & verified by UK NARIC, OR
- A separate English Language Qualification (e.g. IELTS)
